Matodzi Nesongozwi
Matodzi is an Entrepreneur and a qualified Mining Engineer with over 20 years’ experience in the mining industry in a wide variety of commodities. In 2010 Matodzi founded Manngwe Mining, with an aim of widening his portfolio in the mining industry through identification of brown fields’ project through which insignificant value add can be developed into commercial viable mining ventures. Manngwe Mining currently operates Assen Iron Ore Mine which employs over 220 people. It has a name plate capacity of just over one million tonnes of iron ore mining per annum.
He is a holder of B Tech: Mining Engineering from University of Johannesburg, International Executive Development Programme from Wits Business School, he also holds a Mine Manager certificate of competency. He has worked in various capacities in the mining industry for companies, amongst others Anglo Platinum-Potgietersrus Platinum Mine, Anglo Base Metal-Namakwa Sands, Iscor-Sishen Iron Ore Mine, Southern Era Resources – Marsfontein Diamond, Messina Platinum and Klipspringer Diamond Mines.
In 2006 Matodzi founded and was a majority shareholder of Umthombo Resources, which is a privately owned mineral resources company. The company has two operating coal mines and is a partner to three other coal ventures. The company also holds numerous prospecting rights for Coal, Platinum, Iron Ore, Base metals and wide variety of commodities.
